The App Challenge: Apr ’23

Apps can get a bad rap, but are there ones that are really helpful – tell us….

Our April ’23 App Challenge poses this central question is: Is there an “off-the-beaten-path” app that you use that you find very helpful or very interesting? It might be in any realm of life: business, history, exercise, economics, rest and relaxation, travel, art, science, office life, self-help, cooking / food, study, or some other field or pursuit.

The App Challenge is all about efficiency and ease of life, and in no way advocates increased screen time or social media use. The App Challenge does recognize that technology is here to stay and simply asks what apps have you found useful.

For instance, for years if anyone with only a phone (no computer scanner etc) needed to send me documents they would take a photo of it, and I would receive a skewed image of a document. The dimensions and fonts were invariably off-kilter etc. Perhaps you have received something like that yourself. Well, those days are now over for me. Recently, I discovered that Adobe has an app that acts as a scanner for your phone and produces wonderful scans as PDFs. The documents are clear and perfectly proportioned. So now if anyone needs to send me a document then I insist they use that app, or a comparable one.

What unusual apps have you discovered, or in what unusual ways are you using more commonplace apps?

Leave your responses below in the comment section or write them here….
