Here is a look back as well as a view of the way forward…
Seven years ago, directly after Halloween Yoga 2012 (note: that year I was dressed as a voting booth and you can see my box costume in the background) the photographer I had in for the evening hung around afterwards for a bit and took a number of photos of various poses. He shot rapid fire so there are numerous shots of each pose….(continued below)
The most striking difference between then and now is the degree of white / grey that has somehow cropped up in my beard – and there are probably other differences as well!! One mainstay however is that I can still do that pose to that same degree of proficiency. Now I would not call this one of the most challenging poses, but nonetheless it demands a certain degree of balance and body awareness…..(continued below)
The takeaway and most important reason for posting this is that if one practices with consistency then you will be able to maintain your practice from year to year and from decade to decade, despite the obvious aging of the body. So keep on keeping at it from day to day and year to year. Then you will have it – the antithesis is far less desirable. Side by side, a strong meditation practice should always be front & center. 🙏
