There are many things in India that are mysterious to overseas travelers, but perhaps it is the head shake (bobble) that is most distinctive and intriguing. Have a look for yourself.
Interestingly, even North Indians headed to South India are often mystified by the head bobble. So not only do North and South Indians lack a shared language of communication (besides English), their gestures also vary greatly.

Great explanations of the South Indian head wobble. I knew it can mean yes, but these videos described more of the nuances. Too bad we don’t have these rich and useful communicative gestures in our repertoires!

Indeed, these are some wonderfully unique gestures.
As you may know that is not all India has to offer; there are also upwards of thousands upon thousands of hand mudras, all of which contain very specific meanings.
