A good overview of seated posture in everyday language….

This NPR report examines the ill effects of poor seated posture – as well as the solution. One thing they do not mention is that anyone doing yoga will have far greater awareness about proper seated posture and be more inclined to sit properly. Not to mention a good, well-rounded yoga practice will help undo the harm done on those few occasions our seated posture is less than desired.

That said, this podcast offers some good points and emphasizes just how harmful poor posture can be. Definitely worth a listen if you are one of those people who do a fair bit of sitting, which is most of us.

  1. Thank you for sharing this information. Suffered almost a year with sciatica. It’s better now, but (after listening to this podcast) I realize I have not been sitting properly. The simple hint for proper sitting is really helpful.
