Mom’s Pataongia Adventure

Mom’s Patagonia Adventure

Here is a growing photo journal of mom’s recent “expedition” to Patagonia….

This Nov – Dec mom and her good friend Maggie embarked on a 2 1/2 week excursion to Patagonia. As the story reaches me, several months back mom mused out loud how it would be nice to see Patagonia. And that was all Maggie needed to hear. It was not long before they were both signed up on a trip with Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT).

Mom then spent the next several months in training – endurance & weights – stepping up her usual workout in preparation for the big trip. Not a bad agenda for an 89-year-old! And, slowly but surely, she also purchased all the rugged essentials that were needed – backpack, hiking poles, boots, parka etc. And off they went!!

And verily it turned out to be a very successful outing. Mom returned feeling quite emboldened by the whole experience and in awe of the mountains, fresh air, and grandeur of the region. And the folks on the trip, Maggie included, kept a keen, supportive eye on her.

Here are a few shots from their trip with many more to come once I get my hands on mom’s flash drive : -) [Update: Here is that photo journal]

At Sea

Their trip encompassed land and sea travel, and these first two photos are from their boat. Directly below mom is watching her personal, live-screen TV…

In this next shot below, mom is on the right along with her dear friend and traveling companion, Maggie.

And again, once I get that flash drive, I will upload plenty more photos….

    1. I think she was just awed by the terrain, topography – not sure if she saw some photos or read an article, but I do not think she really expected to go!
