Fitness Challenge: July ‘ 23

Here are a few benchmarks for keeping in shape this summer…

For the month of July we have the Fitness Challenge. Here the point is that fitness can comes in all sorts of ways. The following are options that can be used throughout the month, depending whether you are indoors or out:

  • Balance: Hold a standing balance pose of your choice (tree pose, dancer pose etc) for a minute on each side.
  • Cardio: Walk a 15-minute mile.
  • Equipoise: Pick a yoga pose and refine your form using a mirror.
  • Diet: Eat plenty of raw veggies – how about those cold salads with fresh cukes and tomatoes.
  • Strength: Do two rounds of plank pose for 30 seconds each.
  • Diet: Drink plenty of lemon water with a pinch of salt.
  • Flexibility: Work from a wide angle forward fold towards a split. (Here the operative term is towards!)
  • Diet: Replace a processed snack with a fresh piece of fruit.
  • Partner: Engage in a fitness activity with a spouse / life partner.
  • Positive Outlook: Talk about your fitness goals with others.
  • Flexibility:  Try and touch your toes every morning and evening.
  • Cardio: Walk in the sand / on the shore, or walk up a hill.
  • Equipoise: Do a two-minute meditation before your morning or evening meal.
  • Flexibility: Practice hip-openers for ten minutes daily for an entire week.
  • Strength: Try a new side plank variation (some photos are below).
  • Diet: Prepare a new, healthy dish.
  • Equipoise: Do a 5-minute corpse posture (no sleeping) every day for a week.

Or come up with your own plan….and let us know what it is!!
