Yogi Hiker Soloing The Whites of New Hampshire

Over the years, we’ve had some awesome photos from some of our inspired yogi hikers. Here is a recent one of the Johnson clan.

This summer we have also had a fearless soloist with a fairly unique story…

Nancy Hiking in NH

Here we have Nancy – no longer only famous for her extended crow poses. Now she is known throughout for soloing the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

You see – it all started so simply. With husband John home working, it was her responsibility to deliver the kids up to camp in New Hampshire. The intention was to come back right away. Instead, she liked what she saw and decided to stay awhile. Having gone up there with the bare minimum, she outfitted herself accordingly and began to tackle the trails and hills, and ultimately the peaks as well. All-by-herself!

Each week that she missed class would bring forth the latest text message and photo showing why she was not going to be at yoga that morning. Ultimately she carved out an intensive itinerary of peak-bagging.

Indeed, this is not your ordinary mom dropping off kids at camp. This yogini went out adventuring on her own – spontaneously – without the least bit of worry or hesitation, just spur of the moment “joie de vivre”, can-do attitude, and a fearless spirit.

  1. Inspiring! I don’t think I would like to go by myself though. Check out a friend of mine’s book about his hiking on the Colorado trails. It’s on Amazon.com. It’s called shades of gray, splashes of color. Bye Bill Cooke.

  2. I was so lucky to have an opportunity to visit the White Mountains. They were some of the most beautiful mountains I have ever seen. At first I was nervous about hiking by myself but somehow overcame that fear. Thanks everyone for the nice comments and I will definitely check out the book Shades of Gray.

  3. Nancy is my daughter. I posted this article on my Facebook page for all my friends to see. I’m proud of her.
