Restorative Yoga Recap

restore #3 (comp)A grand restorative yoga program we had indeed this afternoon: A full house of 16 participants, 2 facilitators, a live flautist, and yours truly.

Using bolsters, blocks, straps, eye pillows, sand bags, pillows, blankets and much more, all got the opportunity to experience the calm within.

It is a highly individualized program. Our two facilitators, Annie J & Sharon B, did a wonderful job of keeping everyone aligned and comfortable. And our flautist, Mary Flora – a music teacher at Windy Hill Elementary (Owings) – kept us under her spell. Please listen to a short audio clip below of her playing.

This was our 3rd restorative yoga seminar of 2010 and we look forward to offering more in the new year. Please do join in and experience first-hand what it is all about.

Here are a few lines of what today’s participants had to say about the program:

So relaxed in bhadakona asana (reclining bound angle) that I had to debate if I really wanted to move into the final posture.

I liked supported child’s pose best; the music was wonderful.

What did I like best? Relaxing, having assistance when needed – and I did [need it]!

The best part of the seminar? being here! with my sister too!

– Well paced – feel ready to tackle the holidays.

I liked it all! I would certainly recommend this to others.

  1. Hi Satyam –

This looks wonderful! I love all the props you have for your students. Looks like it was BYOP too (bring your own pillow). I encourage my peeps to bring their own stuff from home too (to have in addition to all the studio props). Lovely flute music as well. Glad to hear about this restorative event.

  2. Hi Satyam –

Thanks so much for the restorative program. It was a wonderful experience. Jenny and I came with very open minds and left quite restored. The time seemed to fly by for me – I loved the story at the end!!!

Hope to get to another one of your classes soon!

  3. Hi Satyam,

After the Restorative Workshop, I forgot to add to my evaluation that I thought the props were wonderful and they’ve made me look at my sofa in a whole new light.

Also, I love the stories you tell and the yoga philosophy because it helps to integrate yoga as a lifestyle rather than just a class.

    Thanks again for the workshop,

    Zoe

  4. I was able to view the pictures on your site – how relaxed we all are :). I just wanted to thank you again for the workshop. I really enjoyed everything about it and forgot to mention how wonderful the music was on the feedback sheet – it was all very blissful. I’ve already mentioned to my students a field trip of sorts for your next restorative workshop.
