The Garden Challenge: May 2016
The Garden Challenge
May is a big gardening month here in Maryland – share with us your gardening endeavors.
Growth, nurture, support, care, and cultivate are inherent components to the practice and path of yoga. So it is only fitting that yogis are wonderful gardeners as the two disciplines similar qualities. And indeed in the past, so many in our yoga community have shared their gardening skills, strategies, and bounty with us. Whether it be Annie’s rooftop garden, Mark’s gardening beds, Sharon’s herbal talks, or so many other examples, we are a community of gardeners.
An Auspicious Start
And I feel things are off to an auspicious start as well because after teaching classes this past Saturday, I noticed something attached to my front windshield, and as I got closer I saw it was a plant. Catrina had gifted me a “cosmos” wildflower seedling. Rather than driving home with it, I hand dug a spot just on the left as you enter Galesville Hall. So we can all watch it grow and flower this spring / summer!!
So let’s see what you’ve got going in your garden this season – photos, stories, plans – they are all warmly welcomed!!! Happy gardening to you…
Oh and stay healthy along the way – Yoga for back care podcast – safe gardening / lifting techniques…
