Day 12 After Hip Replacement Surgery
Ahhhh – a day in the life of hip-replacement surgery and recovery. Here is Ms Annie (left) along with her cousin, Lisa, doing Warrior III in tandem, just 12 days after her procedure. The new hip is the one that is going way back, parallel to the earth…
For more about Annie’s super safe and super fast recovery, see this earlier post…
(p.s. Although they are trying to play it cool now, the dogs were absolutely ecstatic seeing Annie in this pose.)
LOL, the dogs were actually discretely trying to move out of the frame after propping me up for the pose!
and just so it doesn’t look too daring, in the hospital, the physical therapists taught us how to retrieve things from the floor basically using this pose…I can’t bend the operative leg, so they tell you to bring it up behind you as straight as you can and then bend forward, supporting yourself with your arms – I just had a personal support system instead- my beloved cousin Lisa! They refer to it as ‘golfer’s bend’; of course it was just Warrior III to me!
Annie is AMAZING!!

Yoga after hip replacement = great combo
Nice Post! Yoga would be best option after hip replacement. I appreciate your work.
Annie, this is incredible! You are an inspiration!
Tina, thank you!! The Renaissance Yoga community played a HUGE part in inspiring me to be as proactive and positive as possible in my recovery. As time goes on I am just SO GRATEFUL to our yoga family, my family, and my surgeon for helping me get back to an activity level that I feared was beyond me! Every day I can walk my dogs, go to the gym, and most importantly, come to yoga is a bonus beyond belief!
