Daily Challenge: April 2015
Our monthly challenge for April 2015 is:
The Daily Challenge….
The world of yoga is vast – comprised of yoga postures, meditation (concentration, pranayama, & more), philosophy, social norms, health and hygiene, epistemology, spirituality, diet and nutrition, fasting, and numerous other teachings. To take it all in at once and make it your own is simply not possible.
So this month we will take aim at practicing one new aspect of yoga each and every day. That new practice might take 30 seconds (such as closing the eyes and breathing before driving the car), or it might take longer – i.e. practicing a new yoga sequence or changing your dietary habits. Perhaps it’ll vary from day to day depending on your schedule or remain a constant throughout the month. All along, the goal is to try something new and put it into practice.
Here is a brief listing of what you might want to try and – perhaps even better – is if you have your own thoughts / ideas for how you would like to proceed:
– Daily meditation, shavasana (corpse pose), or relaxation;
– Incorporating yoga poses into your daily routine;
– Having a raw foods snack, drinking more water, or preparing a new, healthy recipe;
– Learning / studying a new yogic tenet or learning a new Sanskrit term;
– Setting aside time for maonbrat (vow of silence); satsaunga (getting together with other practitioners);
– Hearing or reading or telling a parable;
– Listening to chants, kiirtan, or soothing music;
And throughout the month I will offer more ways to bring this challenge to life.
Share with us – via words or photos – how you are incorporating yoga into your day…
Hi there…I’d like to affirm a new veeshwash: to begin doing plank everyday to strengthen my core, focus and help with determination and hopefully success with work. I will start with 1 minute tonight!
Very nice Alisha – let us know how it goes – either way I’ll be checking on you…
