Class Conversion: On-Site Class Credit ==> Live Online

Class Conversion:
On-Site Class Credit ==> Live Online

Over the course of this summer the plan is to convert
your class credits to live online credit…

Overview: Many of you have moderate to large credits with Renaissance Yoga. With the covid shutdown, initially the aim was to keep the finances between on-site classes and live online classes separate. However, this summer we shall aim to convert your onsite class credit to live online class credit. Kindly see details below.

Who Qualifies: Anyone who prepaid for on-site classes in the form of a series of classes, a monthly pass, or a cash account.

The Process: We will begin with those already actively participating in live online classes. I will contact you individually over the course of the next few days and weeks and inform you of (a) how much onsite class credit you have, (b) how that will be converted to live online classes, and (c) what the final credit total will be. The overall aim will be clarity and fairness. Should you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Those who believe they have class credit but have yet to attend an online class are welcome to contact me about their status.

Big Picture: As noted above, initially I thought to keep the two systems separate (onsite vs online) as I really had no idea how everything would play out. And it would not have been fair to simply switch everyone’s credit to a new format that did not necessarily suit their needs etc. However, now that we are nearly three months into this quarantine / shut down and have a basic vision for how the online classes are shaping up, it seems appropriate to start making the conversion.

The Future: How many question marks should I write. But one thing that does seem certain is that the longer this goes on, the deeper the impression it will have on life going forward. I think it is clear that a magical, carefree “return to normal” is not in the cards. So, for the immediate future, I am going to focus on offering more and more online classes, workshops, and opportunities for practice. When the major public institutions (schools, universities, community centers, county agencies etc) have a clear vision for how to safely proceed  – and have gotten success with onsite scheduling, then RenYoga will also venture into the field. As we have neither the specialization nor research capacity, we have no intention of being any type of groundbreaker, i.e. guinea pig. Besides, all our sites were done as partnerships, and each of those sites may wish to handle things differently. So I’d say, for the summer and into early to mid fall, we will be strictly offering online classes only.

Thank YOU: The RenYoga community has shined like stars during this entire transformation. The outpouring of support, generosity, care, concern, and love has been tremendous – far beyond what I could have ever imagined, yet in retrospect also quite “normal and expected” given the top-quality and tight-knit nature of our yoga community. In this context, “yoga community” means YOU. So really, I have nothing but immense gratitude for you as people, as well as for what you have done. 🙏
