Backbend Challenge: Feb 2015

Bring out your backbend. Maybe it is deep, maybe it is growing, maybe it is novel, and maybe it is getting there. Whatever may be this is the time to hone in on it and gain greater insight into what backbends have to offer.

We live in a hunching society riddled with poor posture, back pain, and the like. One of the ideal ways to combat this is with backbends – plus they are extremely energizing. That inhale into the backbend brings spinal extension, opens the heart, and brings so man health benefits.

One of the keys to backbends is to build into the slowly – along a continuum or a progression. Throughout the month of February in classes we will explore backbend progressions to help with this.

For starters your backbend might be like this:

Or perhaps you are looking for a little support in your backbend.

Or maybe your backbend will be filled with balance.

  1. Satyam – have you posted a page on the balance challenge yet? I am really up for this one! Are we supposed to time our tree pose tomorrow? I know I read it somewhere but can’t find it.
