There are so many things I’ll gladly say goodbye to from 2020, but it surprised me that there are also a few I hope to hang on to in 2021:

– keep doing yoga 6 days a week! These Zoom classes have helped me create a consistent daily practice!

– keep these adorable cats of ours up on their little pedestals! Georgie’s lymphoma diagnosis brought home the fact that we had really been slackers in the cardboard cat castle department and we’ve upped our games considerably.

– keep gardening! The pandemic inspired our first Victory Garden in many years. I want to keep it growing!

– keep giving back. The kindness and love that’s been shown to me in the last few years has been amazing. The pain and suffering we’ve seen in the last few years has been horrific. I know I can’t make much of a dent, but I intend to pay it forward whenever I can.

– keep hiking!!!!! And if I can’t be with the hike I love, I’ll love the one I’m with!

– keep playing music. With friends. With my husband. With my heart.

– keep saying thanks!!! THANKS TO OUR YOGA COMMUNITY!!

December Challenge I have been contemplating this for a while, and there are so many things to consider. But, I have tried to narrow it down to a few of the “big” ideas….

– To be able to see friends and family without the stress or wonder if you or they have been exposed/may expose each other. Being able to have that sense of comfort and community back without a screen.
– To be able to travel easily and safely across state and country borders.
– To have more consistent work/income as this past year was drastically reduced and affected us (as did many others) quite a bit. And the really big kicker….

– To have people respect and accept each other and consider the welfare of everyone for safety, peace, and overall well being regardless of all the variables of background, situation, etc. That is my big “pie-in-the-sky” request!

These may overlap a bit with my December Challenge (above), but wanted to send in some “fun” ones too!

– Being able to see people’s faces again, mask free, and safely. It sure is nice to see people’s smile, and facial expressions!
– Expanding the social bubble!!!!
– Being able to walk into the vet’s office again with the animals.
– Attempting to grow a really awesome garden this year.
– Work getting more “back to normal”
– Not having that “stranger danger” moment every time you come into contact with someone outside of your bubble.

2021 here we come and this is what WILL be going on:
– Mom living fully independently by the end of the 1st quarter
– Returning back to Maryland (at some point)
– Transition to a hybrid yoga schedule: in-person & live online classes
– Podcasting…Podcasting….Podcasting…
– Getting back to a safe, face mask-free environment (duh)

  1. Satyam–I’m so glad your Mother is doing well so far. May she go from strength to strength!
What I would like to have for at least the beginning of 2021 would be some new audio podcast practices. Some people, like me, don’t find the live sessions easy to use for technical reasons. Would it be possible to record some that could be either rented for a period of time or purchased? I’ve been using some of those you made early on, but I feel I’m freeloading. Any new ones should be a part of your income stream; there ought to be a way to do it.
I know you haven’t much time at present, but maybe it’s something to think about for the future. Best wishes to both you and your Mother.

    1. Hi Mary Stuart,

Thanks for your support of mom….

I appreciate your request for podcasts, though I am not sure I am able to fulfill that, as completing that here in NC may be a tall order. I probably have to get back to MD to do that, not to mention the time to come up with a new system.

What I wold says is dive right on in to those free existing podcasts. Now if you are bored of them that is a different matter, beyond that enjoy to your heart’s delight. And if you care to you may make a modest donation, but really that is not necessary.

But YES, I shall aim to come up with a way to make this new platform available…thank you for the suggestion!!!
